I imagined my opening blogs would be about thoughts I’d had on tutoring. You know the ones: why I became tutor, my history with schools, stories I’d love to share, etc. Yeah…we’re not doing that now.
Let’s jump right into it.
I’m offering a few free tutoring sessions in different locations, including online. These will cover primary topics that should be on upper elementary SOL assessments. I’m starting here because these are the grades I see most often, the skills here will be needed for years to come, and some students have struggled with missed days (break, snow days, illness, etc.). Check the dates and topics to be sure your child is attending the correct session. Parents may also choose to enroll in group or private tutoring sessions on site. If you would like additional tutoring, please contact us at grandmabcares@gmail.com.
The first math sessions will cover:
- multiplication facts
- order of operations
- word problems
- angles and triangles
- fractions: adding and subtracting with unlike denominators
- word problems
Sessions are free, but space in the room is limited. Registration is advised. Walk-ins will be permitted if seats are available.

Sign up for a session on 02.15.2026 using the SignUpGenius button below.
